Nuclear Power?

Many countries in Asia are now thinking or in the process of building nuclear reactors to supply their countries with cheaper electricity. But with the threat of nuclear accidents, reactor meltdowns and terrorists threats, many would think twice if not three times before even having the thought to build such a facility.

However, I am slightly towards the pro-nuclear power side. Despite the unimaginable consequence if an accident where to occur, nuclear power can be used as an alternative energy source that we can tap in without the problem of green-house gas emissions. Moreover, nuclear power does not require such pre-requisites such as a windy places for wind power or large open spaces for solar power , and etc. All it needs is uranium and a secure facility to hold and tap into it.However there's still the problem of disposal of nuclear waste and disapproval from the international community... On a second thought... Nuclear power is indeed very dangerous, imagine a whole country being wiped out from a nuclear accident... (@(00)@)...!!!!

Also related to global warming and reduction of green house gases... Have you noticed that the range of temperatures (highest temperature n lowest temperature during the day) has increased? It seems to to be really hot when the sun's out and really cold when it rains. Moreover it has been raining lesser than it should be considering its the monsoon season... This can only mean one thing.... Global Warming is upon us!!!!! We must stop it at all costs!! (Or maybe I'm just paranoid ). OK.. I better stop before I steer too far away from the topic. ^^

Topic For Physics Project

I've finally come up with a topic for the project (Took me haf a month to think of it >_<) and it would be Storms. Contents of the project would include: Formation of Lighting and cyclones, Lightning and other stuff. The Project is almost done but there isn't any clear-cut relation to physics and you would probably have to infer it yourself from the presentation, but nevertheless the relation is still there.

*Sure hope no one takes a similar idea as mine b'cos it took me so long to come up with it. ^_^

Electromagnetic Pulse

Apparently, EMP is that the fictional bomb you would see in games such as Generals, it actually exists!

Now for a Brief Intro on EMP:

When most people think of nuclear weapons, they see images of buildings being obliterated, mushroom clouds rising, and cities being decimated to the point that they are unrecognizable. What people fail to notice about the capabilities of nuclear weapons is that the blast is only the beginning. Other properties of nuclear weapons such as the deadly radiation they admit are frequently overlooked.

One form of radiation that is emitted by the nuclear device is the electromagnetic pulse or E.M.P. The electromagnetic pulse by definition is a very powerful electric field, created by a variation of the Compton effect called Compton recoil, that sweeps outward from the blast nucleus producing strong electrical currents that render most electrical components useless especially semi-conductor electrical devices. This pulse is not limited to stationary devices on the ground either helicopters, planes and other airborne electrical devices are at risk as well.

Could you imagine aeroplanes fall from the Sky and all our electrical equipment becoming nothing more than an over-sized paper weight!!

My First Post! Yay!

My very first blog finally created! (never imagined it would be used for physics though....) By the way... is it me or is everyone's format exactly the same ?? Do we all have thesame taste??

However there's still no progress on my physics project yet. >_<>
